Hello! My name is Sara Smith and I am the owner and operator of Newaygo County Reseller LLC. I am a mom to three handsome boys: Zaydrian 13, Elliot 10, and Kaysen 6, and a daughter, Marinda 17. I am a very busy mom with a career and this business. On my free time, I enjoy kayaking, attending sporting events for the kids, watching football, swimming, hiking, working out, traveling, and working in my gardens.
I am often asked how I even got into this business. The easiest answer is, I don’t know. I never dreamed to own a store. In fact, growing up I wanted to take over my grandma’s family restaurant. But when COVID hit, my career was moved to working from home and depression seeped in. I missed talking to humans that were not my littles. Although, I may not have realized this at first, I craved working with the public and building those relationships again. Every summer my kids and I joined my aunt and cousin for a few days camping in Shipshewana and attending the flea markets. Last year, while I was there, I started thinking about how these sellers get these brand-new items to sell and make enough money to cover the cost of a booth in Shipshewana which is known specifically for the flea markets and the Amish culture (I really just like to go for the Amish food, yum). The rest of my trip down there, I spent a lot of time researching and started finding places that sold liquidation pallets.
In the beginning of July 2022, I purchased 3 pallets of liquidation items and started selling them from my home and meeting up with people. On September 12, 2022, I moved into our brick-and-mortar building and opened for business. It didn’t take me long to figure out there was no way I could keep up with everything on my own and I enlisted the help of relatives. Now I have two aunts, my cousin, and several other employees working for me. I never dreamed of what I have in this business now. I just thought it would be fun to buy a pallet. There is absolutely no way I could have done with without my amazing family, friends, and employees. Cathy, Chris, and Stephanie have been with me from the very beginning. From hand unloading trailers and uhaul’s full of product to open the store and everything that has entailed. I am incredibly grateful for these amazing people that have often put their lives on hold to help me become successful in this business.
I also have to give a huge shout out to Mick for his help along the way. Lastly, to my children, thank you for all of your patience with me during this last year. They have had to miss out on some things with me, because I was dedicated to building this business. I am thankful that I have been able to entrust in my employees to keep things running when I am not able to work those late nights anymore. I hope my children grow up to see that they can conquer anything that is put in front of them and that success happens in all forms, but putting in the effort is the only thing that will get you to your idea of success.
Lastly, thank you to all the amazing people from all over who have continued to support me from the very beginning and made this whole thing possible.
- Sara
